Psalm 66: Exhort One Another Daily While It Is Called Today

We are called to “make a joyful noise unto God” and “sing forth the honour of his name” as this Psalm discusses, and in doing this we will grow in our appreciation of God’s grandeur and mercy and “say unto God” “How terrible art thou in thy works”!

Praising God brings us into remembrance of how great our Father is as we learn how it is “through the greatness of thy power” that “thine enemies submit themselves unto thee”. Many Psalms praise God for His power over the enemy and as His children we know this is primarily speaking of the enemy within each of us that needs to be overcome through God’s spirit.

God’s elect are blessed today to be able to understand that we can be brought to a place of having joyful hearts and lips of thanksgiving where we give thanks to God that the enemy within us can be made to be brought into subjection unto Him through “the greatness of thy power” (Heb 13:15-16 , Isa 57:19)

Heb 13:15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
Heb 13:16 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

Isa 57:19 I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the LORD; and I will heal him.

This three-part study explores that process explained as “the greatness of thy power”, and no matter how painful for the flesh this process may become, we are promised that through Christ and His body we can be led to joy in the morning being His workmanship which He promises to finish (Eph 2:10 , Heb 12:2) to His glory and for the benefit of all His creation.

Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Heb 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
