The Study with Psalm 58 entitled “Verily He is a God That Judgeth in the Earth” is now available here.

This Psalm starts off with some provocative questions that set the stage for the verses which are to follow:

Psa 58:1 To the chief Musician, Altaschith, Michtam of David.
Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?

Our hearts initially receive Christ with an immature in the earth outlook knowing Christ after the flesh (2Co 5:16), or knowing the crucified Christ and not yet seeing the need to be crucified with Him (Gal 2:20).

2Co 5:16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Until that time of having our waters troubled (Joh 5:4-6) God’s word continues to be wrapped around the idols of our hearts which are yet carnal and not able to “speak righteousness” or “judge uprightly” which we must learn to do if we are going to become kings and priests. It takes God’s goodness that leads us to repentance (Rom 2:4) in order to wash away those idols of our hearts and to bring us into a right and proper relationship with our Our Father and Christ (Joh 17:3).

Joh 5:4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
Joh 5:5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
Joh 5:6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?

One of the most important lessons that God is teaching us in this Psalm is that we just naturally define our own idea of what Christ’s righteousness is and it does not exceed that of the Pharisees until God judges our earth through a lifetime of overcoming as we grow through the afflictions, the persecutions, and the much tribulation which are used to mature the elect kind of first fruits in this age.
