The two part study with Psalm 56 is now available here.
……….Psa 56:1-5 “He that loseth his life for my sake shall find it”
……….Psa 56:6-13 “Walk before God in the light of the living”
This Psalm begins with David crying out as a type of the elect who will be shown mercy from God. This thought is developed throughout the Psalm as David comes to see that God will try and test David and bring him to his wits end so that he feels like his enemies will ultimately swallow him up, but in the end the Lord will narrowly deliver David and his rejoicing and praise of God for this mercy will then become the focus of the Psalm.
All of this is happening to remind the elect in this age that we serve a merciful and loving God who is going to be the author and finisher of our faith through the much tribulation and trials that we are promised.
The Psalm continues to grow in a hope filled message of how we can “walk before God in the light of the living” and come to understand that God’s mercy is in that light which represents His spirit and is working a work of cleansing the first man Adam so that we can show the same mercy that He has shown unto us to others. It also focuses somewhat on the struggle God has called the elect unto in this age as we lose our life for Christ’s sake (Mat_10:39).
