You’re all alone, separated from your brothers
And nobody knows the dreams you’ve had… they just don’t matter
And I know you’ve fallen further than you ever thought you could
How could this be God’s desire as He takes you through these fiery trials

The years go by and your tears are getting stronger
And though you’re crushed there’s a new strength there inside you
And you’ve finally come to see that He will never leave your side
Every valley and mountain has brought you to that place where you are looking behind

All those days are long behind you — they’re just shadows that remind you
Of the way and truth and life pointing to that glorious light…

Now you’re risen from the dark, chains are broken, fetters lost
And God’s mercy has prevailed: you’ve been freed from earthen jails!

Oh Joseph I know that we’ll all have to go through that
But the morning will come; those ten days are done… and then

You’ll rule the land from within and from without
And in your hand there’ll be power to command
But you never will forget the mercy God has shown to you
And your coat of many colours will be used to cover others, mercy rules
