Martha stated something that tells us plainly of one event that will be true of all men, and that is that they will rise “at the last day”:

Joh 11:24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.

Christ did not deny that Martha’s statement “at the last day” is not true, and gives us confirmation in (Rev 20:13-15) in regards to the second resurrection where every man will be judged according to their works “in the last day” (Joh 11:25-26).

Rev 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
Rev 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Joh 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
Joh 11:26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

In this two-part study, we look more closely at these specific parables of Christ (Luk_9:14-17 , Mar_8:6-9) that point to the judgement of every man’s work, and how that judgement is initially a baptism of water and then a baptism by spirit, as shown symbolically in these parables Christ gave us in regard to feeding the masses:

Luk 9:14 For they were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, Make them sit down by fifties in a company.
Luk 9:15 And they did so, and made them all sit down.
Luk 9:16 Then he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and brake, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude.
Luk 9:17 And they did eat, and were all filled: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets.

Mar 8:6 And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people.
Mar 8:7 And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them.
Mar 8:8 So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets.
Mar 8:9 And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and he sent them away.

There is one event unto all men (Ecc 9:3), and God shows us with His word that no flesh is exempt from that judgement, and no one who has ever lived will not give an accounting (Rom 14:12 , Mat 12:36), each man in his own order unto God  “at the last day” for those things done in his body “according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad” (1Co 15:23 , 2Co 5:10).

Ecc 9:3 This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.

Rom 14:12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

Mat 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

1Co 15:23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.

2Co 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

We will also look at the unfolding of that judgement and how it is possible that all men will be judged, including children who have been aborted or died because of war. They too will experience a type of water and spirit baptisms that Christ spoke of, being needful for all who have ever been born (Mat 22:29 , Joh 3:5). No matter who we are or what our conditions were in this earth, we must be “born of water and of the Spirit”, and that will happen for each man in his own order, as God’s word tells us (1Co 15:23-27).

Mat 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

Joh 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

1Co 15:23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.
1Co 15:24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
1Co 15:25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
1Co 15:26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
1Co 15:27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.

God’s elect are giving an accounting today because judgement is upon us (1Pe 4:17), whereas the rest of the world will come up in judgement “at the last day” and that day is very importantly understood to be the day of the Lord (Isa 13:6-7). It is a day of judgment, and it is a day that unfolds in two parts (“one day” and “a thousand years”) revealed in this parable that Christ spoke to us in (2Pe 3:8), and it is a day “every man’s heart shall melt”.

Isa 13:6 Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.
Isa 13:7 Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man’s heart shall melt:

2Pe 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

God is not bound by any time constraints in terms of how long it will take to judge all of his creation, and we know by His word that the narrow way for judgement is to neither let it be delayed nor rushed (Ecc 8:11 , 2Pe 3:9), but rather go through a process that will demonstrate how God does all things decently and in order for all of his creation who He is not willing that any will perish (1Co 14:40).

Ecc 8:11 Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil

2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

1Co 14:40 Let all things be done decently and in order
