In this short five verse Psalm we look at much of the imagery that God uses in His word to describe His sovereign hand which searches our hearts and tries the reins as it says in (Jer 17:10)

Jer 17:10 I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

God knows what is in the deceitful and desperately wicked heart of man that He has made to be tried and tested, and is the lawgiver who has set this condition in our hearts to sin, knowing that we will all be changed one day by His power (Jas 4:12 , Rom 7:23 , Rom 9:20 , Isa 63:17). It is because He changes not (Mal 3:6) that our unstable wave like condition can be healed (Joh 8:36) or as it is written “the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.”

Jas 4:12 There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?

Rom 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

Rom 9:20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?

Isa 63:17 O LORD, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and hardened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants’ sake, the tribes of thine inheritance.

Mal 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

Joh 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

In order for our world to finally come to that point of not moving we must see ourselves as the one who lifts up our voice against God, like the floods that lift up their waves, and understand that we are the man (2Sa 12:7) who ascends above the heights of the clouds at first, and also we are the ones whose heart is lifted up “Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God” as it is written in (Isa 14:14 , Eze 28:2). With the fiery trials that God gives His people the new man is created who is no longer an unstable sea but rather a sea of glass that can glorify God in the unity that He produces through those trials (Rev 15:2 , Isa 43:16).

2Sa 12:7 And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;

Isa 14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

Eze 28:2 Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:

Rev 15:2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.

Isa 43:16 Thus saith the LORD, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters;

It takes God’s judgements and his powerful hand which is “mightier than the noise of many waters” in order for us to overcome the nations within that rise up against God, and when this judgement is in our earth we are learning of His righteousness which will turn us into a new creation described in this manner in the last verse of our study “Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine house, O LORD, for ever”.(Psa 93:5)

It takes God’s judgement upon His house in order for men to learn righteousness (1Pet 4:17-18), and God will humble His people through this process so we know that only Christ could have ever given us such a great victory over the powers and principalities which we must wrestle against all our lives (Eph 6:12). We have exceedingly great and precious promises to encourage us to that end of salvation (2Pe 1:4 , Isa 46:13).

1Pe 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
1Pe 4:18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

2Pe 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Isa 46:13 I bring near my righteousness; it shall not be far off, and my salvation shall not tarry: and I will place salvation in Zion for Israel my glory.
