(The three part study (video, audio and notes) with Psalm 90 is available here)
This three part Psalm study entitled “One day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day” looks at the correlation of this verse in (2Pe 3:8) and the hidden wisdom within the many physical numbers that are spoken about in this Psalm. A pattern does emerge that helps us see the sovereignty of God over all time and His eternal purpose to save all mankind (2Pe 3:8 , Jer 29:13 , Psa 119:160).
2Pe 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
Jer 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
Psa 119:160 Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.
To know that judgment is needed for all of mankind and that there is an order to that judgement and salvation (1Co 15:23) is to have a mind of wisdom. It takes the mind of Christ to know that there is no good thing within our flesh (Luk 18:19) which must die daily and must be judged and learn obedience by the things which we suffer through the much needed tribulation that God provides so that we can be received as His children in this age (Act 14:22 , Heb 12:6).
1Co 15:23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.
Luk 18:19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.
Act 14:22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.
Heb 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
God’s people are being judged today (1Pe 4:17) and that judgement is likened unto “the day of the Lord”. That one day of the Lord is something that takes all our life to fulfill as we go unto perfection on the third day having to die daily to have this process fulfilled by the Lord within us (Luk 13:32 , 1Co 15:31 , Php 2:13). The process of judgement of our flesh is also reveal with the number three because we know that ten represents the perfecting of the flesh, and that 10 X 10 X10 or THREE TENS=1000.
1Pe 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
Luk 13:32 And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.
1Co 15:31 I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.
Php 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
This study has been a good exercise in remembering that the bible means what it means and not what it says, meaning that when we look at physical numbers in the bible we can be sure that God has attached great spiritual significance to each and every passage that has numbers. If we look only at the physical context of any part of the word and don’t see the spiritual application, then we are being blinded by the letter and the judgement is not happening accordingly. Conversely if God will grant us to see the spiritual meaning behind the words we read, and we are blessed to be among those who read hear and keep the sayings of the prophesy (Rev 1:3), then that process of judgement spoken of in (2Pe 3:8) “is at hand”.
Rev 1:3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
2Pe 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
