This Psalm (full 2-part study available here)

The title of this study “Builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit” which is taken from (Eph 2:22) is a concise description of what this Psalm 5 eludes to over and over.

Eph 2:22  In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

At first glance, as always with God’s word, we are drawn away by the comments of the Psalmist who is very adamant to condemn those things which are outside of himself, and yet if this Psalm is going to be beneficial to our spirit to the building up of this habitation of God through the spirit, then these words which are spirit (Joh 6:63) must be lived and applied in our own heavens in order to tear down the old temple, the old marred vessel and build something anew within.

Joh 6:63  It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

God’s elect are blessed to have impressed upon them very deeply in this age through His word how we must be brought to a point where we cry out for deliverance whether we live or die unto the Lord (Rom 14:8). We are made to be naked on the cross, vulnerable, dead to sin and alive in Christ, unable to save ourselves, so that from that place, others can minister to us. Christ and his body are ministered to whether we live or die, as these verses symbolically witness to (Mat 26:12 , Joh 19:39-42).

Rom 14:8  For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s.

Mat 26:12  For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial.

Joh 19:39  And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.
Joh 19:40  Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.
Joh 19:41  Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.
Joh 19:42  There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews’ preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.

God’s favor comes upon His people because over time they come to realize their need to drink the cup (Mat 20:23) that is given to them and to be judged in this age (1Pet 4:17). Because we are granted to be quickened with the spirit of God upon our dead spiritual bodies, we can be alive in Christ and able to live unto Him in this life which this Psalm makes very clear, and with great rejoicing at the last few verses as a result of this anointing.

Mat 20:23  And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.

1Pe 4:17  For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

This judgement and acknowledgement of our need for his reproving of our life (Joh 16:7-8) is what makes it possible for God’s elect to be “builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit”.

Joh 16:7  Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
Joh 16:8  And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
