We are told in God’s word to “Let all things be done decently and in order” (1Co_14:40), and the order of events in Daniel’s life is therefore significant in regard to how the Lord prepared him in advance to be made ready to interpret the dreams of Nebuchadnezzar in chapter two of Daniel by eating the right foods and rejecting the kings meat which is what is needed for believers to be made “ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear” (1Pe_3:15).
1Pe 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
The sanctification process is typified by eating the right foods and rejecting the kings food, “the portion of the king’s meat”, which was looked at in chapter one of Daniel, and God is the one who is able to sanctify us through Christ who has made that very request of our Father (Joh_17:17) on our behalf so that we can come out of Babylon and be saved by grace through faith which is a gift of God given to the body of Christ (Eph 2:8).
Joh 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
When God’s word sanctifies us, it prepares our hearts to stand up against the powers and principalities that we wrestle against in our heavens (Eph_6:12), and makes it possible for us to be witnesses of these things (Luk 24:48), as we can now, by the grace of God, interpret the king’s dream as a result of being sanctified with God’s truth that we continue in so that we can save ourselves and those who hear us (1Tim 4:16).
Luk 24:48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
1Ti 4:16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
The verses we will review in this chapter of Daniel set the stage for king Nebuchadnezzar and his prophetic dream of a great statue to be interpreted by Daniel in the second part of chapter two. Daniel makes it very clear to the king that this is a work of God and that all glory is His in this matter. For the body of Christ, the lesson is that God drags us to His son and miraculously opens our eyes and ears so that we can interpret the dream and witness to this world, in hopes that He may save some in this age (Rom 11:11-14). The good news is that all men will be saved in time (1Co 15:22) and God will use his little remnant to accomplish this. Daniel and his three friends who go into Babylonian captivity with him, represent the elect of God who will be miraculously prepared to be his witnesses in this age, and prepared to be saviours who will come up on mount Zion to judge mount Esau, which represents the unconverted masses in the second resurrection (Oba 1:21).
Rom 11:11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.
Rom 11:12 Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?
Rom 11:13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:
Rom 11:14 If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them.1Co 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
Oba 1:21 And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD’S.
