In this study of the first seven verses of the book of Daniel we learn of the siege that Nebuchadnezzar took upon Jerusalem (Dan 1:1). That siege represents a day of evil (Pro 16:4) that the Lord created (Amo 3:6) for his express purpose of humbling the nation of Judah who represents the body of Christ and all mankind that must go into Babylon in order to come out of her my people (Isa 52:11).
God sacrificed this entire economy (Judah, Nebuchadnezzar, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego) to teach us something about our own journey in this life as God’s children (1Pe 1:12 , 1Co 10:11). These are prophesies of things that must reflect spiritual principles in the lives of those who God is working with today otherwise they would just be a history lesson with no spiritual relevance to the overcomer today.
Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego are the central characters in this opening chapter who represent the church, the seed of the woman who must go into captivity and grow in their witness of what God has convicted them to do in this life. This conviction comes from God, as it is his purpose in all men’s lives being fulfilled according to the counsel of His own will (Eph 1:11). However God’s will in the lives of “Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego” reveals a type and shadow seed that represents the church (Gal 3:16) that has been purposed to go into Babylon but then by the grace of God come out of her my people (2Co 6:17).
These opening verses of Daniel really plant the seed of that idea, that God is using “Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego” who will prevail by God’s hand through every trial and every circumstance that He causes to demonstrate to the true overcomers with God’s spirit in them in this life (Rom 8:9 , Col 1:27) that through the God of all comfort (2Co 1:3-5) we are more than conquerors through him who loves us (Rom 8:35-37) and that nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus (Rom 8:38-39).
2Co 1:3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
2Co 1:4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
2Co 1:5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.Rom 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? [Captivity into Babylon?]
Rom 8:36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
Rom 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Rom 8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Rom 8:39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
