In chapter one of Malachi we learned of the inability of mankind to properly worship at the temple of God evidenced with the lame, sick and torn sacrifices (Mal 1:7-8) that were being offered that represent our spiritual condition at that stage in our walk.
Mal 1:7 Ye offer polluted bread upon mine altar; and ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of the LORD is contemptible.
Mal 1:8 And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? and if ye offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? offer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the LORD of hosts.
The solution to cleansing the temple that we are (1Co 3:16) and the sacrifices that we ought to be presenting to God in holiness as a living sacrifice (Rom 12:1-2) is only made possible by looking to our Lord who we are dragged to (Joh 6:44) for that express purpose of being judged, Lord willing in this age (1Pe 4:17).
Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Rom 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
It is the priests in chapter two who represent the ministers of Babylon who are given the heavier condemnation for causing God’s people to go astray, Christ’s sheep who have been led astray (Isa 53:6 , Jer 50:6 ). The priests and the people who worshiped God in the prescribed manner that they did at that time in Judah and Israel are types and shadows of the entire religious world today (1Co 10:11) of which very few are called out of by God’s mercy (Rom 11:1-36 , Heb 6:3 , Mat 22:14).
Rom 11:18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
Rom 11:19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.
Rom 11:20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
Rom 11:21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
Rom 11:22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
Mat 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen.
In chapter three of Malachi we learn that in order to present a sacrifice that is acceptable to God we must be refined through the Great refiner, Jesus Christ the author and finisher of our faith (Heb 12:1-3). In other words, having the seven last plagues poured out upon us in this age Lord willing (Rev 15:8) is what is needed in order that we may enter into that temple in the only way that we can be accepted which is through Christ (Eph 1:6).
Heb 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Heb 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Heb 12:3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
Rev 15:8 And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled.
Eph 1:6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
It is by going through the grace-through-faith process of (Eph 2:8-9), and defined as the refiners fire, or the fullers’ soap of (Mal 3:2), that we can become a new people who will then be seen in this light, through Christ ,”Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the LORD, as in the days of old, and as in former years“. The good news is that all men will be saved, each man in his own order, and those who are blessed to be refined in this age will be used of God as the saviours who come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau that represents all of humanity (1Co 15:23-22-26 , Oba 1:21 , 1Co 6:2 , Rev 20:6).
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of
yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Mal 3:2 But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap:
1Co 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
1Co 15:23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.
1Co 15:24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
1Co 15:25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
1Co 15:26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
Oba 1:21 And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD’S.
1Co 6:2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years
